Fueled by a passion for country music and performing,
singer/songwriter Angela Peterson is a consummate entertainer.
Constant performing in her native Houston, as well as other
Texas markets, has earned her a legion of ardent fans, and the
word is spreading - even as far as Nashville.
Growing up in a family that always supported and nurtured her
talent enabled Angela to set goals for a career in music at an
early age. Her father, Pete, a retired fireman, and her mother,
Peggy, a homemaker, are devoted to Angela’s career, as are her
older brother, Paul and his family. According to her parents,
she began singing even before she could speak clearly, singing
along with the radio. She overcame her youthful shyness by
performing for family and friends at various gatherings,
including her church.
Eventually, Angela began performing at private social events and
in local clubs in Houston and the surrounding area, all the
while juggling performing with school. She graduated early from
high school and received an academic scholarship. After spending
two years in college in Houston, she moved to Boston to study at
the Berklee College of Music. Her desire to perform drew her
back to Houston, however, and she resumed her steady performance
schedule. Along the way, Angela was able to fulfill one of her
goals – she was invited to sing the National Anthem at the
Houston Astrodome. It happened at a Houston Astros/St. Louis
Cardinals game with George and Barbara Bush in attendance. Other
National Anthem performances followed at the Houston Compaq
Center for the Aeros, Rockets, and Comets.
Whether in a stadium or in front of an intimate crowd in a small
club, it is immediately obvious that Angela does indeed love to
perform. Her ability to captivate, charm, and entertain an
audience is matchless. And every song she sings and every song
she writes resound with her truest emotion – “country music is
where my heart is.” |
